About Leicester Fixers

Hello. We are Leicester Fixers. We are a growing community of people, we do projects supporting people in Leicester, Leicestershire and beyond to repair their broken items and reduce the number of items going into landfills.

For almost ten years, Leicester Fixers strive to inspire people to repair and reuse their items and teach them new skills. To tell our success stories predominantly using Facebook. One day, we thought it would be nice to have a central place to put all the information about Leicester Fixers and their journey. One day, if we meet, we hope you'll share with us your favourite posts about Leicester Fixers. Even better, we would like to hear how some of our events, training or resources helped you in your journey towards repair and make a difference.

We've spent most of our resources and energy on delivering events and trainings. We have run 1 Festival, 29 Restart Parties, an Outreach Programme, one PAT Testing training. Those events were a great way to engage people with repair and for us to grasp what it is to be a community as we witness relationships between people forming.

In 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic hit, Leicester Fixers took the opportunity to reflect on its practices. Storytelling is a significant part of the work of Leicester Fixers in bringing to the surface stories of people who repair in Leicester and they thought that they will launch its blog as a resource that will stand a change in circumstances.

From there, we are sure more projects will emerge supporting people in their journey towards trying to repair.
